How we started One sunny day (to be precise it was not sunny, but it sounds better if we say it like that), Uros Vasiljevic was sitting in front of his computer monitor, finishing up his latest program for presenting his programming skills. We can't say who became more bored he or his monitor, and keyboard get headache from infinite then, if, dot and equal. He stood up, got his 17th drink of coke and punched the table with hands, saying: At the other part of town Vojin Milenkovic was AGAIN late and off course AGAIN had good excuse. He had spent all evening thinking of design for some web site for some employer who pays good (you can understand why we can't say correct data because advertisement is paid at current market price) and he thought that he has done it right(and he realy did, but as we said material is highly confidential). As any good designer he got up at 14h at Egyptian time , that means 15h at Belgrade time (that don't alter the fact that he is a good designer), he was hurrying up to a minute. While hurrying he was thinking: FPS is equal to Vladimir Ilic. Fantastic, perfect and superb, like one good map for Counter-Strike (CS) made by him. But his biggest problem is that he can't be beaten in his own levels (to be precise, same is for other levels). He has tried, but the only thing in which he is better then in playing CS is making levels for the same game. After several laps around his room, partly breaking laps with coffee, he understood that he can look for people that think a like and create an ultimate level for game where even the best players would have a good time. He has decided to get one more cup of coffee and look at his e-mail. Painting on computer, is there anything better! Bojan Nisic would say no (except beer, but it does not belong to the same category but they can be mixed). He has just selected object using “gradient tool” and said: Point, comma, semicolon, for, if, another average day in life of Nemanja Todorovic. Everything in “good old” C++ works fine, and fingers aren't stiffed, no matter if it is -5 temperature outside (normal temperature in December in this part of planet). To be a programmer means a life of a single man (single life does not mean to have computer for a best friend) and he was looking for friends. Human is a social being even if he is talking in C++. There must be people that can understand him. Logical thinking: “IF” I equals programmer “THEN” me plus some designers, artist and so on equals team. So go online to search. How would you feel if you see a man, 2 meters toll, and even more, looking at you with a grim look. Suppose that you would be scared when you see such a thing. But he does not look you like that, he is looking you as a 3D model, and grim look is result of deep thinking what tool to use to get perfect look for your hair or eyebrows. Is that Milan Dimitrijevic a.k.a Dimke? You go in store, see a bottle of soda, buy it, drink it and throw it away. He goes into the store, buyes a soda, spill it and take soda can to home to create a 3D model from it. But 3D model of people and soda cans can't talk and walk too much, so that is boring. He needs a programmer to write a code so they can fly. Who, how, where? He continues to walk on streets with a grim look on his face... You would say Natasa Ristic was running, but she was actually flying that day. So, that is the main difference between manager and a good manager, while one is running, another is flying. Just to mention, standard tools: 2 phones, a package and another package of 50 pieces of paper ,just in case if 49 of them is gone, which she usually spend, notebook, 20 pieces of pens (in pink tones), food and smile that takes men off their feet (written by men in team), but that is another story. After she has organized her life for next 20 years and swipped few men of their feet, she find out that she needs to find some new challenge – How would be for her to organize job in group of standardly unorganized people, like designers, artists and programmers? That is a hard challenge. Let's make it short , it is logical that all actors from this story have met, since we write this, but instead of conclusion, here are the most important points from the first meeting, organized at December, 29th , 2005. First we have exchanged personal data for computer specifications, then personal names. Jokes were told between debates about games, what is better, Windows or Linux, Athlon or Pentium, and so on. At the end, we made a schedule for coffee making, which looks like this: Dimke, Natasa, Dimke, Dimke, Natasa, Natasa, Natasa, and of course, Dimke. But sometimes Panta makes a coffee, but only for himself... |
